One of the senior police officers indicted in the plot to get Dr. George Akuffo Dampare removed as IGP, Superintendent George Asare has made some explosive claims against the star witness, Chief Bugri Naabu.
He accused the Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Chairman of setting up him and Commissioner of Police (COP) Alex Mensah up as a result of a 40,000 cedis contract he has to supply boots to the Ghana Police Service.
Superintendent George Asare at the Committee sitting today refused to speak to aspects of the leaked take where he accused Executive Secretary of President Akufo-Addo, Nana Asante Bediatuo for failing to provide his boss with accurate information about the current IGP.
Supt. Asare further revealed he met the former NPP Northern Regional Chairman Bugri Naabu at his instance.
According to him, his link to Bugri Naabu is through his son Emmanuel Bugri Naabu who is a spiritual father to him.
He further alleged just as COP Mensah did that Mr. Naabu has cut out portions of the audio incriminating himself claiming he suggested the crusade to get the IGP removed must not only be physical but spiritual as well and consequently asking for some “Malams’ to be consulted.
Supt. Asare just like COP Mensah ended his submissions with an allegation that the current IGP got Bugri Naabu to record the conversation and through some officers in the service forward same to him.
He in essence stated the committee work is a waste and a financial loss to the state since the IGP is the source of the leaked audio. He assured he has witnesses willing to appear before the committee to corroborate some of his claims.
Speaking to Kasapa News lawyer for Supt. Asare Alfred Paapa Darkwah argued his client has evidence to back his claims.
According to him the IGP must be made to appear before the committee to defend himself.
