The Ghana Police Service has suspended the interdiction of its former Director-General in- charge of the Technical Department, COP George Alex Mensah, Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi and Superintendent George Lysander Asare.

A statement issued by ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service Thursday evening said: “In order not to prejudice the ongoing probe, the police administration has suspended their interdiction.”

The three officers were earlier interdicted in connection with an audio recording of a conversation which has become the subject matter of an investigation by Parliament.

Their interdiction come after the three officers appeared before the Parliamentary Committee investigating the scandal.

During their appearance before the parliamentary committee, COP Mensah and Superintendent Asare made startling revelations about the Police Sevice.

COP Mensah who admitted being involved in politics accused the IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, of mismanaging the Police Service.

He claimed that the IGP’s conduct has resulted in a decline in morale among police officers.

In the said leaked tape in which there was a plot to remove Dr. George Akufo-Dampare as IGP, COP Mensah and Superintendent Asare are heard in a discussion with former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bugri Naabu saying that the IGP must be removed to ensure the victory of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.
