In a remarkable show of leadership and community spirit, the revered Chief of Obomeng, Nana Effah Opinaman III, led a delegation to repair the dilapidated Nkawkaw-Obomeng road in the Kwahu area of the Eastern Region.
According to Agoo FM news report, the Chief personally funded the initiative and devoted his time and effort to addressing the pressing issue of potholes that have long plagued the road.
Obomeng Chief yesterday Tuesday 26th September 2023, was joined by his elders, the local youth, Assembly members, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu South Emmanuel Attah Ofori Snr, and some members of the Obomeng community.
The Nkawkaw-Obomeng road has been a source of concern for the community, particularly the youth and drivers, who have had to endure its deplorable condition for far too long. Potholes, crevices, and uneven surfaces have made daily commuting a challenging ordeal for residents and travelers alike.
Chief Nana Effah Opinaman III, recognizing the urgent need for action, decided to lead by example. He financed the road repair operation, providing cement, chippings, water, and essential equipment. Notably, the Chief, alongside the local youth, could be seen tirelessly mixing concrete and filling major potholes on the road.
While the work is ongoing and not yet completed, Nana Effah Opinaman III took the opportunity to appeal to the government to intervene and ensure the complete renovation or construction of the Nkawkaw-Obomeng road.
He emphasized that the road’s condition is not only a matter of concern for the immediate community but also for the entire Kwahu community.
Joining Chief Nana Effah Opinaman III on the ground was the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu South, Emmanuel Attah Ofori Senior. He commended the Chief for his selfless contribution to addressing the road’s issue and acknowledged the positive impact it has already had on the community.
However, MCE Emmanuel Attah Ofori Senior also used the opportunity to make a heartfelt plea to the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo, and the Minister of Roads and Highways, Akwasi Amoako Attah.
He urged them to expedite the process of fixing and completing the Nkawkaw-Obomeng Road, recognizing its significance to the residents and the wider region.
The collaborative efforts of Chief Nana Effah Opinaman III, the local youth, and the support of the Municipal Chief Executive reflect the power of community engagement and the unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those affected by this critical infrastructure issue.
The hope is that this initiative will serve as a catalyst for further development in the Kwahu area and inspire similar actions in other communities facing similar challenges.
