Hearing of the the motion for Stay of Proceedings and subsequent hearing of the originating motion filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for Seizure and Freezing has been adjourned because the outcome of a petition sent to the Chief Justice to remove judge from all OSP cases has not been determined.

On October 18, drama unfolded when the sitting judge, Justice Edward Twum indicated that the said petition was withdrawn but it was later revealed it was still pending.

Before the case was adjourned to today, October 25, lawyers of the OSP led by Dr. Isidore Tufuor said they had filed two applications- one for Stay of Proceedings and another for Certiorari at the Supreme Court seeking to arrest part of a ruling of the Court on October 11 on a motion for abridgment of time was heard.

In Court on Wednesday, October 25, when the case was called on the day the motion for Stay of Proceedings was to be moved, the outcome of the Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo was not ready.

Former Sanitation Minister, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah and husband Daniel Osei Kufuor were present with their lawyers led by Victoria Barth.

However, lawyers of the OSP were absent in Court.

EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, who was at the Financial and Economic Division of the High Court in Accra reports that, the case was heard in Chambers while it was adjourned to November 8, 2023 awaiting the outcome of the CJ’s decision on the petition.
