The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante has paid a working visit to the Presbyterian Recycling Factory located at Ayakomaso in the Brong Ahafo Presbytery.

The €350,000.00 factory which started operation this year pays for collected plastic waste. At the factory site, the various plastics are sorted into types and colour by the staff. After this, they are processed to produce raw materials for tiles and other plastic products which are made used by other factories.

The Moderator of PCG expressed his excitement about the prospects of the factory looking at how the country is being swallowed by plastic waste. He charged the Management of the factory and the BA Presbytery to ensure that their aim of financial sustainability as well as the ecological integrity campaign of the Church shall be fulfilled.

He requested the National Director of DSS to collaborate with NUPSG members studying Mechanical Engineering to study the operations of the machines to find out if they could mould such machines locally so that the Presbyterian Recycling Factory could be replicated in other Presbyteries.

The Moderator visited the factory in the company of the Brong Ahafo Chairperson, Rev. Benjamin Appiah, the West Brong Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Daniel Bosea-Gyinantwi, and the BA Lay Reps. to GAC, Mrs. Nancy Arthur. Also, the National Director of Development and Social Services, Mrs. Teiko Sabah, and the Brong Ahafo Development and Social Services Director, Mr. Ofosu Denkyira.
