Parliament has concluded debate on the 2024 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of government.

The Minority which insists the budget portends danger to Ghanaians once again served notice it cannot support the taxes embedded in the budget.

Taking his turn to conclude the debate, Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson disclosed government is struggling to reach an agreement with external creditors on debt restructuring to pave way for the release of the second tranche of the $3 billion IMF loan.

The former Deputy Finance Minister related to a deadlock at the International Creditors Committee over a cut off point for Ghana before an agreement can be reached.

Majority leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on his part zoomed straight into the Mahama 24 hour economy policy.

According to him such a policy will lead to waste of the country’s meagre resources arguing the former President is only sleep-talking.

The Suame MP argued such a policy will increase the public sector labour force beyond what the economy can contain.
