The French-Line section of the Kumasi Central Market has been gutted by fire on Sunday morning around 7am.

The fire has caused significant damage to several selling goods including clothes, phones, locally-made sandals, and several herbal medicinal products.

Shop owners had to scramble to save their goods in the market while others watched helplessly as the fire flames consumed their livelihoods.

Despite the arrival of four fire tenders, firefighters struggled to bring the blaze under control.

The extensive damage and potentially hazardous materials within the affected area also presented significant challenges for the ongoing firefighting efforts.

While some shop owners were able to salvage some of their merchandise, many others have lost their entire inventory and face financial hardship.
