The Member of Parliament for Akan constituency, Ing. Yao Gomado has urged the Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah to withdraw his officers from his constituency to avert any possible clash in the constituency following the death of two young men.

The two, Peter Agbla and Alhassan Inusah both 22years met their untimely death after the motorbike they were travelling on collided with a vehicle belonging to the National Security at Koto Nkwanta in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region on December 25, 2023.

Reorts say the National Security operatives were chasing alleged cocoa smugglers with a vehicle without headlights in the night when the collision occurred, killing them on the spot.

According to the MP, “he finds it shocking that peace officers paid by taxpayers to ensure the safety of citizens can mow down two individuals without any conscience or human feeling.”

He assured the general public and members of the family of the deceased individuals of his commitment as a member of parliament to pursue the matter lawfully to its final conclusion with the national security secretariat and government.

“I would like to express my profoundest condolences to the bereaved families for the
loss of their children. I also entreat the youths and elders to remain calm as we continue to use all lawful means available to pursue the matter to a just and satisfactory conclusion,” the statement added.
