Over 128 parliamentary aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been vetted in the Ashanti regional office of the party.
One of the five aspirants for the Ahafo Ano South-West parliamentary primary, Opoku Ahwenie, has withdrawn, citing his quest to preserve the integrity of polls in the constituency.
The committee is yet to formally determine the eligibility of Asokore Mampong MCE, Kennedy Kwabena Kankam to contest the Nhyiaeso Constituency primaries as an appointee of the ruling government.
The NPP on Thursday evening concluded the two days vetting of its 128 applicants seeking to contest the party’s Parliamentary primaries which is expected to come off on 27th January 2024.
The two vetting centers committees were chaired by national representation including Henry Nana Boakye National Organizer of the party and Lawyer Gary Nimarko a member of the party’s national legal team to avoid any unlawful elimination of qualified aspirants.
Lawyer John Darko who launched his third attempt to represent Suame Constituency in Parliament described the vetting process as fair and smooth.
He expressed confidence of winning the Suame primaries against three others including the Municipal Chief Executive of Suame who doubles as the special aide to the Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.
The law professor said he has built himself very well to represent the constituency in Parliament when given the opportunity.
MCE for Suame Maxwell Ofosu Boakye who is one of the favorites tipped to win the contest said he has learnt a lot from the outgoing MP to fit into his shoes if given the opportunity.
