Popular Chef of Cookathon fame, Faila Abdul-Razak and her team on Tuesday visited Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at the Flagstaff House to thank him for his generous support during her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has decided to sponsor a one-week vacation for Faila and her husband and also the Chef who helped her during the event, at Jirapa Dubai in the Upper West region.

Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak, a native of Tamale in the Northern Region, has broken the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Over the course of ten days, she cooked for 227 hours, feeding over 200 orphans and vulnerable people.

With a cooking time of 144 hours and 20 minutes, chef Failatu Abdul-Razak has surpassed Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe, also referred to as Mama D, in the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

The Modern City Hotel in Tamale, Northern Region, hosted Chef Faila’s effort to shatter the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual from January 1, 2024, to January 10, 2024.

People like Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, former First Lady Lordina Mahama, politicians, Members of Parliament, and Ghanaian celebrities were among those who enthusiastically supported Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak’s cooking marathon.
