National Democratic Congress(NDC) Branch Executives and Coordinators in the Gomoa Central Constituency have called on the National Executives of the party to change their Parliamentry Candidate else the party will be defeated in the upcoming December general elections.
They want their Parliamentry Candidate, Kwamena Deen Yawson to be replaced with politician cum musician Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus.
They describe him as a weak candidate who they don’t trust can secure victory for the party in the upcoming high-stake elections.
They are thus requesting leadership of the party to adopt A Plus who is contesting for the parliamentary seat of the constituency as an independent candidate.
Addressing a Press Conference, Akapo Bright, Dean of NDC Coordinators in the Gomoa Central Constituency said, A Plus possesses great chances of winning the elections as he’s been able to court the support of both elite and grassroot constituents.
He said, they don’t have any option than to go in for A Plus to lead NDC to victory in the upcoming election, adding that their appeal is non-negotiable.
Akapo Bright cited the Winneba instance where the party substituted its candidate with James Kofi Annan as parliamentary candidate ahead of the 2020 elections.
He said he and his colleagues deem it a daunting task to win back the seat with the current candidate after losing it to the NPP nearly eight years ago, warning that failure of the National Executives to accept their plea will push them to support A Plus to win the Gomoa Central Seat as independent candiadte.
Akapo Bright noted that as at now most of the NDC members have already accepted A Plus campaign messages and are ready to elect him as their MP.
