The Ghana Red Cross Society says it has targeted at least, 12,000 victims of the Akosombo dam spillage to benefit from a multipurpose cash transfer program this month as part of a wider effort to boost the livelihood of the victims.

The beneficiaries according to Red Cross are the most vulnerable families whose source of income was disrupted by the disaster.

According to the Secretary General of the Ghana Redcross Society, Gayoni Gbolo Solomon, each of the selected beneficiaries will receive between GHC600 to GHC1,200 under the multipurpose cash transfer program.

The fund is part of a relief program by the Ghana Red Cross Society to victims considered most vulnerable whose livelihood was entirely destroyed during the floods in October, 2023.

The organization has so far began the distribution of other relief items including personal hygiene kits, blankets to victims in the Savanna and Volta regions.
