President Akufo-Addo has undertaken a major shake-up in his government that has seen many of his stalwart ministers who have served over the past 7 axed from his government.

Ken Ofori-Atta, who survived numerous calls for his removal of the Finance ministry has finally been relieved from his position, with Mohammed Amin Adam who move to the Ministry as a Minister of State from the energy ministry a year ago being made substantive Minister.

Health Minister and Dormaa MP Kwaku Agyemang Manu and Interior Minister and Nandom MP, Ambrose Dery have also been replaced by the President.

Greater Accra Minister and Ayawaso Central MP, Henry Quartey and NHIA boss NPP Ledzokuku Parliamentary candidate, Bernard Okoe Boye will be heading to the two ministries respectively. The two having served as Deputy Ministers of the respective ministries during the President’s first term. Former Tema Central MP and VALCO MD Titus Glover takes over a new Greater Accra regional minister.

Additionally, all ministers who opted out of NPP Parliamentary Primaries have been kicked out of government.

Roads Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Atta leads the pack with Bantama MP and Works and Housing Minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye replacing him.

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has been reshuffled to fill the impeneding gap at the Works and Housing Ministry with his Deputy Fatimatu Abubakar elevated to head the Information Ministry.

Local Government’s Minister and Okere MP, Dan Botwe also leaves government with his deputy and Techiman South MP, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah taking over as minister designate.

Environment Minister, and Sefwi Wiawso MP who also opted out of the NPP primaries has been axed from government with Mfantseman MP, Ophelia Hayford heading to the Ministry of Environment.

The President has equally axed a number of Ministers who lost their parliamentary primaries.

Water and Sanitation Minister Freda Prempeh, who replaced Cecilia Dapaah about 6 months ago has been replaced following her loss in the Tano North primaries to Senior Technical Economic Advisor to the Vice President, Dr. Gideon Boako. Freda Prempeh heads back to parliament as a deputy majority whip, with Ayawaso West Wuogon MP and 2nd deputy majority whip, Lydia Seyram Alhassan as new sanitation minister designate.

Gender Minister Lariba Zuweira Abudu has also been replaced following her loss in the Walawale race to another technical economic advisor to the Vice President, Mahama Tiah Abdu-Kabiru. Okaikwei south MP, Darkoa Newman heads to the Gender ministry as her replacement.

President Akufo-Addo has also made changes at the Tourism Ministry, with Deputy Energy Minister and Sekondi MP, Andrew Egyapa Mercer taking over from Ibrahim Mohammed Awal.
Oti Regional Minister, Joshua Makabu has also been replaced by Bernard Machator

A raft of changes have also been made at the deputy ministerial level.
