The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP on Friday, February 23, 2024 unanimously affirmed the Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo Markins as the Majority Leader in Parliament.

According to the NEC in a emergency meeting held today in Accra, the shakeup in the majority caucus is preceded by the stepdown of Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu willingly.

Addressing the media after the meeting, the National Organizer of the party, Henry Nana Boakye confirmed Hon Alexander Afenyo Markin as the new majority leader, ably assisted by the MP for Asokwa, Patricia Appiagyei.

He furthered that Annor Dompreh, MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri still remains the Chief Whip, and Hon. Habib Iddrisu, MP for Tolon remains the 1st Deputy Whip.

A new addition to the front bench of the Majority caucus is Alex Tetteh Djornubuah, MP for Sefwi Akontonbra, who will serve as the 2nd Deputy Whip.
