A 2-year-old girl who was being carried at her mother’s back has been killed after a falling tree crushed her head during a heavy rainstorm at Assin Juaso in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region.

Information gathered by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan revealed that, the mother during the downpour decided to go for her gear which she was drying but unfortunately, the rainstorm pushed a tree to fall on the mother crushing the child to death in the process on Monday March 4, 2024, around 5pm.

The mother and the other child also sustained severe injuries.

The disaster occurred when the family consisting of the father, Kwadwo Kwae, mother, Adjeley and their two daughters including the deceased went to the farm.

Residents believe the disaster happened because it’s a taboo for anyone to go to the farm on Mondays.

The police at the district police command in Assin Fosu upon hearing the information rushed to the scene to convey the injured persons to the St. Francis Hospital in Assin Fosu for medical attention, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the same hospital.
