Former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Joshua Hamidu Akamba has revealed one of the party’s grand strategies to be deployed on election day, December 7, 2024.

According to the firebrand politician, the NDC party has a stategy to deal with trigger happy security officers who will abuse their power by unjustifiably shooting at innocent voters.

Speaking to host Bonohene Baffuor Awuah on Ghana Kasa show on Kasapa 102.5FM Thursday, Joshua Hamidu Akamba recounted the fatal shooting of some voters at Techiman by some soldiers on election day in 2020, questioning why the security personnel have not been punished almost four years after the incident.

He said to avert a repetition of such incident, the NDC will fix secrete cameras to expose such security officers who will engage in unlawful actions.

”We [NDC] will fix secret camera’s on trees at polling stations on election day, so if you are a soldier or police officer and you fire at an innocent voter, your crime will be captured on tape and you’ll be arrested right after the election. We’ll also fix secrete cameras on our party people at the polling station and our focus is on police and military officers who will want to shot innocent voters.”

Joshua Akamba’s comment comes barely a month after the party’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore indicated that the NDC will deploy drones on election day as part of its efforts to secure two million votes in this year’s elections.

Mr Moore said the aim is to strengthen the NDC’s monitoring systems to prevent potential rigging, adding that preparations were well underway to commence the training of constituency executives on how to use the drones to monitor ground activities.

But Deputy Director of Election for the NDC, Mahdi Jebril in an interview with Kasapa 102.5FM refuted the claim saying the party has never had any plan to deploy drones to monitor the general elections on December 7, 2024.
