The Trade Capacity Building (TCB) Programme of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has urged farmers to ensure that their products are in conformity with national and international standards, as government  makes effort to address the challenges facing sustainable value chains of the agricultural sector and create a better environment for entrepreneurs.

The National Project Coordinator of the programme, Mr. Victor Mills made the point in a statement on the occasion of Farmers’ Day celebration to  congratulate all farmers and fishermen in Ghana for the vital role they play in the Ghanaian economy.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Transform Ghana:  Invest in Agriculture”.

The Trade Capacity Building programme which aims at enhancing the export potential of targeted sustainable value chains (fruits, cocoa, fish and wood products) with important poverty reduction impacts, has brought about great improvements in the quality standards in the agricultural sector.

The Trade Capacity Building Project is powered by the Swiss Government through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented by UNIDO in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI).
