A Security Analyst, Andrew Asiedu Tetteh has bemoaned the use of drugs among personnel of the various security services especially the Police.

According to him, many Police officers are fond of smoking banned substances when they clearly know that, that is illegal.

They must check drug usage among the security fraternity. They know, they can’t deny it. Many police officers who are deployed to the various ghettos to arrest drug addicts and peddlers rather park their cars and also smoke marijuana and do all manner of things there. I am not making an allegation, I have personally witnessed this conduct by some police officers,” Andrew Asiedu Tetteh said in an interview on Ghana Kasa on Kasapa 102.5FM Monday.

He further condemned the brutalities meted to civilians by solders in recent times, warning that that development is marring the otherwise cordial relationship that have existed between the military and civilians.

He warned that if this development is not immediately checked it will have dire consequences for the military.

“As we speak we are almost at that stage where if you listen to the conversations in some communities, it is now no more safe for soldiers to walk alone because of the brutalities meted out to civilians.

“Sometimes, soldiers travelling encounter drivers they claim have crossed their vehicle or parked wronglly.  The soldiers just get down from their bus and start beating every. Such behaviour by the military must be nipped in the bud.”
