One dead body is currently floating on the Korle Lagoon with the Police and officials from NADMO finding it very difficult to retrieve the carcass.

The body which was spotted by officials of Disaster Management Organization around 10:20am Monday, is among other dead animals and debris choked at the extreme end of the lagoon where a dredging exercise is ongoing.

Another body which was retrieved by the James Town District Police Command on Friday, June 5, 2015, has since been deposited at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Mortuary.

The body is believed to be that of a 34 year-old Nigerian, according to the James Town District Police Command.

The family of the deceased is yet to report to the James Town District Police Command and mortuary for identification.

DSP Peter Yembilla, James Town District Police Commander, in an interview with kasapafmonline.com said retrieval of dead bodies from the dredging site has been very difficult because of the choked debris and the depth of the lagoon.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that some other corpses have been spotted along the banks of the lagoon.
