The Deputy Minister of Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim constituency, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah earlier Saturday observed at first hand flood complications in the Kwesimintsim municipality.
The deputy minister during a working visit to ascertain the progress of work on some drainage constructions was caught up in Saturday’s heavy downpour.
According to him, it serves as an eye opener on urgent measures that need to be taken to prevent dire consequences.
Kwesimintsim municipality is one of the low lying areas in the Western Region.
Thus the municipality annually records cases of flooding whenever the rains set in.
As a measure to curtail the flooding, some major drainage constructions are ongoing at areas such as Racecourse, Anaji, Whindo, and Apollo.
On his observation, he indicated that he will inform his minister on additional measures to adopt to prevent te perennial flooding situation.
On his part the municipal Urban Roads Director Wilson Amegatse noted that some interim steps would be adopted to manage the situation.
