Chairperson of the electoral commission Jean Mensah has revealed that the 2024 special voting exercise will take place on the 2nd December, 2024.

Addressing a stakeholder engagement with members of the Ghana Journalist Association and the security services, Jean Mensah hinted that the compilation of the voting special will begin on the 17th June to 1st July and called on qualified security personnel and members of the media who will play key role on the day of elections to apply.

Personnel from the security agencies, the media and Election officials who will be playing a critical role on Election Day are expected to take part in the Electoral Commission’s Special Voting exercise scheduled for, December 2, 2024.

The Special Voting is organized by the Electoral Commission to enable these voters whose duties are essential on Election Day to freely carry out their duties on December 7.

These early voters are made up of personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), National Security, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Information Services Department.

Others include members of the National Ambulance Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Prisons Service, Ghana Journalists Association, Ghana Police Service and National Media Commission.

She also mentioned that special voters list will published on the Electoral Commission’s website for verification.

“We entreat all who will apply to verify their details and locations on the commission’s website”.

Jean Mensah thus entreated media houses and security agencies to submit the names of personnel who will take part of the special voting exercise to the various districts offices of the electoral commission.
