The presiding Judge in the ongoing trial of Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and businessman Richard Jakpa has issued a stern warning to the parties involved in the case to be circumspect in their public commentaries.

According to her, any attempt by anyone to scandalise the court will not be tolerated since the court is the only institution clothed with the power to determine the matter.

Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe sounded this caution while addressing a heavily packed court gathering on Tuesday May 28. Before adjourning the case to June 4, 2024, she said, she will not be swayed by the commentaries going on outside the courtroom.

“If any one tries to make any comments to try to scandalize the court it will not be nice,” Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe warns.

On Tuesday, May 28, Justice Asare-Botwe adjourned to June 4, 2024 to hear two applications from lawyers of lawyers of Dr Ato Forson.

The first application was seeking a Stay of Proceedings pending an appeal of the court directives that Dr Forson’s lawyers should cross examine Mr Jakpa before the Attorney General.

And the second is a request seeking an order of enquiries.

The Court said, the nature of the applications will require a reasoned ruling.
