Five people are in critical condition while 17 persons have also sustained various degrees of injures in two separate accidents on the Kasoa to Winneba Highway in the Central Region.
The accidents involved a sprinter Benz Bus and a Kia Truck with a registration number ER-925-21 heavily loaded with tomatoes, garden eggs and other foodstuffs.
Information gathered by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan revealed that the Kia Truck was from Somanya in the Eastern Region heading towards Takoradi when it somersaulted after failing brake and crashed at Gomoa Potsin Junction.
This resulted in the driver, mate and three others on board sustaining severe injury.
In the other accident, the over speeding Benz bus burst one of its back tyres and hit a tree resulting in 17 persons sustaining injuries.
The victims have been rushed to Hope Christina Hospital at Gomoa Fetteh in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region for treatment.
Meanwhile Acting Medical Superintendent of Hope Christina Hospital, Dr Paa Kwesi Essendoh said, they have been able to stabilize majority of the victims while those in critical condition will be referred to Korle-bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
The case has been reported to the police for further investigation.
