Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has indicated that the Office of the Attorney General is in full support of the request by the First accused, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, through his lawyers, praying to Chief Justice Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornoo.

Dr. Ato Forson, in his proposition, states that a live telecast of the trial will ensure a fair trial and just delivery of justice, hence the need for it to be granted.

Speaking GHOne News Tonight regarding the request, Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah- Yeboah emphasized that the Attorney General’s Office supports the demand but quickly added that if granted, the hearing of the case must be done on a day-to-day basis to allow for expedited adjudication.

“We have no objection to the request because we believe in transparency, accountability, we believe in fairness and openness. Therefore, if the first accused person decides that this matter be telecast live on TV, and the CJ is inclined to grant it, we have no objection. The Attorney General has on many occasions intimated that matters of political interest may be telecast live, if possible, for people to have a firsthand assessment of the precedent. This will help in correcting misinformation or injurious reports. However, we are also requesting that if we are going to have this one broadcast live, we have no objection to it, but we are also asking for day-to-day hearings so that we can expedite this matter,” he noted.
