The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Manhyia Divisional Police Command has arrested renowned Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, in connection with a tragic accident that claimed the life of a three-year-old boy.

The arrest occurred shortly after Lil Win was discharged from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment since the incident.

The fatal accident, which took place on May 25 at Amakom in Kumasi, involved a collision between Lil Win’s branded Mercedes-Benz and another vehicle.

Richard Nana Yaw Ampomah, the three-year-old victim, was in the front passenger seat of his father’s car when the crash occurred.

Despite efforts to save him, Richard succumbed to his injuries at the hospital the same day.

Witnesses reported that Lil Win was driving at high speed when the collision happened.

Following the accident, the actor and his manager sustained injuries and were admitted to the hospital. While Lil Win has now been discharged, his manager remains hospitalized.

The delay in Lil Win’s arrest was attributed to his medical condition, with a police vehicle stationed at the hospital to ensure he could be taken into custody immediately upon his release.

He was transported to the Manhyia Divisional Police Command, where investigations into the accident are ongoing.

The incident has sparked a public outcry for justice, with the family of the deceased intensifying calls for accountability.

The bereaved family has already laid young Richard to rest, while his father, Jacob Ampomah, continues to receive treatment for a fractured leg sustained in the crash.

In a statement released last week, Lil Win refuted allegations that he neglected the accident victims to attend the premiere of his movie, “A Country Called Ghana,” at the KNUST auditorium just hours after the incident.

Despite his injuries, Lil Win did appear at the movie premiere on the same night of the accident.

The police have not disclosed further details regarding Lil Win’s potential charges but indicated that he is likely to be processed for court soon.

The investigation continues as the public and the family of the deceased await justice for the tragic loss of young Richard Nana Yaw Ampomah.
