The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), acting on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways (MRH) is alerting the general public and motorists that the Okyereko Bridge over the River Ayensu in the Gomoa East district of the Central Region is currently overtopped due to the continuous heavy downpour and rising water levels.

In the interim, motorists travelling from Accra to Cape Coast are advised to connect through, Akoti- Ojobi- Winneba Road.

Motorists from Cape Coast to Accra are also advised to use the Winneba -Ojobl – Akoti Junction on the NI.

The Ghana Highway Authority in a statement said “We understand the inconvenience this has caused and assure you that our engineers and technical team will work diligently to address the situation as quickly as practicable.

“Your cooperation and patience arc greatly cherished as we work towards ensuring your safety and the restoration of normal ironic flow. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
