The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, could not hide his joy and burst into singing after the Accra High Court dismissed all four applications filed by two accused persons, Minority Leader, Dr. Ato Forson and Businessman Richard Jakpa in the ongoing Ambulance case trial.
One of the applications was seeking an enquiry into his conduct in the trial.
But Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, the presiding Judge in separate rulings said the applications for an order of mistrial, inquiry into conduct of AG, injunction and stay of proceedings are without legal basis.
She said that there is no legal basis for the court to order for enquiry into the conduct of prosecution when the case is pending.
The court said, “maybe another forum and not the court.”
Speaking to the media after the court sitting, an elated Attorney General reiterated that he would continue to escape all the traps set for him by his detractors.
“The most important point is that all the applications filed by the applicants have been dismissed in their entirety, all the applications have failed. I think that in reaction to this, I can clearly say that there are some groups of people in this country who ride on manipulation of facts, distortions and deception of the public. They are always seeking to mislead the public, today they have been exposed.”
He added: “Today when I was coming, I had a song in my spirit.” The AG then burst into singing…
Head of Thy Church triumphant,
We joyfully adore Thee;
Till Thou appear, Thy members here
Shall sing like those in glory:
We lift our hearts and voices
With blest anticipation,
And cry aloud, and give to God
The praise of our salvation.
