The Minority in Parliament has waded into the controversies surrounding the clearing of 120 containers of essential medical supplies at the port.

The supplies from Global Fund have been stuck at the port for more than a year now resulting in a threat from the fund to half further shipments to Ghana.

The development has generated a back and forth between the CSOs in health sector and government with government arguing the consignment contains only mosquito nets.

Addressing the media in Parliament after meeting officials of the Global Fund, Minority Spokesperson on Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh questioned the use of an amount of $2 million allocated for the clearance of the supplies by the fund was put to.

The Juaboso MP further charged government to get the goods cleared regardless of the contents since the supplies were based on a request from government describing the development as an international embarrassment.
