The Minority in Parliament is demanding a probe into circumstances that led to the death of a patient after she was abandoned by management of the Winneba Trauma & Specialist Hospital.

The patient who was involved in a vehicle accident and lost the use of her legs was rejected by the hospital and abandoned by the roadside at Gomoa Ojobi after months without visitation by any relation.

The woman subsequently died in the bush after three days.

Raising the matter on the floor, MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa charged Parliament to summon the sector minister and management of the Ghana Health Service over the matter.

Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin who doubles as MP for the area revealed he has personally written to the hospital for a full report on the matter. Afenyo-Markin also brought to the attention of the house moves by the Ghana Health Service to investigate the matter.

The Effutu MP consequently asked parliament to allow for the conclusions of the ongoing investigations before stepping in if necessary.

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin on his part questioned why the country has sunk to this level of callousness and heartlessness.

He however agreed with the majority Leader for the house to await the outcome of ongoing investigations.
