Domestic Airlines have been grounded and would not be able to fly at least for two more weeks because of the hazy harmattan weather to be grounded for about two more weeks as a result of bad weather caused by the harmattan, officials say.

According to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) directive in a “Notice to Air Men [NOTAM],” Saturday December 5, the weather may only be safe for flights after December 15, 2015.

Domestic airlines would thus be grounded within this period, unless a dramatic change in the weather pattern.

Meanwhile, the Accra –Kumasi highway has been jumped-packed with vehicles as commuters and businessmen and women who hitherto would have travelled by air are compelled to use the road.

A Metrological officer at the Kumasi International Airport, Isaac Taki Tetteh, told the Daily Graphic the dust particles from the North-Eastern wind has reduced visibility such that it makes it difficult for pilots to see clearly.
