The Ghana Naval Command has named one of the two newly acquired warships after the great ancestor of the Dagbon Kingdom, Naa Gbewaa.

This was unveiled by Lieutenant Commander Isaac Zim Aratuo at a colorful ceremony at Yendi.

The Dagbon Regent in a speech read on his behalf commended the Naval Command and promised to deepen the ties that exist between them.

The newly acquired GNS Naa Gbewaa warship is meant to enhance the performance of the Ghana Navy fleet in safeguarding the nation’s territorial waters, especially the protection of the oil installations.

Lieutenant Commander Isaac Zim Aratuo added that the ship will act as an at-sea boarding ship which will build partnership, share information and jointly train officers within Ghana and neighboring countries, to combat threats to maritime security.
