In a move that solidifies Ghana’s governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) commitment to excellence, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has selected the esteemed Dr.Matthew Opoku Prempeh member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency who doubles as minister of Energy as his running mate for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on 7th December 2024.

This decision was presented to President Akufo-Addo at a meeting at the Jubilee House, where the President offered his wise counsel and ultimately endorsed Dr. Bawumia’s choice from the Ashanti region the stronghold of the party.

Dr. Prempeh, a seasoned politician and medical doctor, and a royal from Manhyia Apagya fie has served in Parliament since 2009 and has held various ministerial positions, including Education and Energy.

His impressive track record and leadership skills make him an ideal partner for Dr. Bawumia as they seek to lead the NPP to victory in December.

This choice is a testament to Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to building a strong and capable team, and it aligns with the party’s vision for a brighter future for Ghana.

The NPP flagbearer will present his choice to the party’s council, and once ratified, a formal announcement will be made.

A recent survey by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) showed that Dr. Prempeh was the top choice among party members for the running mate position, further demonstrating the wisdom of Dr. Bawumia’s selection.

With this dynamic duo at the helm, the NPP is poised for a resounding victory in the upcoming elections.

Comment on the decision Manhyia South Constituency Chairman Mr. Ofori Atta popularly known as Chairman Tomtom described the choice as excellent which will energized the grassroots base of the party.
“Dr. Opoku Prempeh AKA NAPO is a house hold name in Ghanaian Politics. He is experienced politician and local boy as well. He is the person majority of our party supporters have been calling for. So I’m not supprise at the choice. I know it was definitely going to happen it just a matter of time’’ he said.

He added” every poll conducted in the country president him as the most popular person in the party that the party supporters are looking for. I’m confident that his pair with Dr. Bawumia will set a record in Ghana by breaking the 8’’.
