Former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Yaw Boateng Gyan says the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) is presenting to Ghanaians a Presidential candidate and Running mate with questionable characters.
He describes the Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a liar and supposed Running Mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as arrogant.
On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, news broke that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP has proposed the Energy Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, as his running mate to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
A meeting was held on Tuesday night where Dr Bawumia sought advice from President Akufo-Addo regarding his choice of a running mate.
The President is said to have provided some guidance, shared his views, and eventually endorsed Dr Bawumia’s selection.
Commenting further on the NPP ticket for the December 7 Presidential election in an interview on Ghana Kasa show on Kasapa 102.5FM, Mr Boateng Gyan such persons with questionable character should not be allowed to occupy the highest offices of the country.
“Bawumia-Napo ticket for the December 7 general election cannot be a threat for the NDC. These are two people with questionable characters being presented to Ghanaians. Bawumia is a well-known liar and Napo is known for his arrogance. Both are a bad case for the NPP. Whatever Bawumia says should not be taken seriously. Ghanaians already know Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the kind of arrogant statements he has made in the past. Both of them will be presented to Ghanaian electorate and I strongly believe they will be rejected. We can’t have such persons as a President and Vice President.”
