The Central Regional Education Directorate has announced that it has made adequate preparations for the smooth conduct of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The exams are scheduled to take place from Monday, July 8 to Monday, July 15, and will see 65,605 candidates participating in the region.

Among these candidates, 32,750 are males and 32,855 are females from 2,415 public and private Junior High Schools (JHS). The exams will be held across 225 centers. Of the total candidates, 51,138 are from public schools (25,576 boys and 25,562 girls), while 14,467 are from private schools (7,174 boys and 7,293 girls).

The Directorate assured that all 22 districts in the region are ready for the exams and that a conducive and friendly environment will be provided for the candidates to perform their best.

In the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, a total of 2,918 candidates will be taking the exam, with 1,482 males and 1,436 females sitting in 9 centers. The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Education Director, Madam Sabina Aba Wilson, monitored all 9 examination centers and advised the candidates not to fear the exams. She emphasized that the exams are similar to the class exercises, mocks, and other exams they have taken in their schools, encouraging them to be confident in their knowledge.

She also warned the candidates not to bring any foreign materials into the examination hall, stating that any student caught with such materials would be arrested.

Additionally, the District Chief Executive of Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Hon. Ransford Emmanuel Kwesi Nyarkoh, congratulated the candidates for their hard work and encouraged them to aim for excellent results to benefit from the Free Senior High School Policy. He stressed that the Free Senior High School initiative is available for every child in Ghana, urging the students to study diligently.

Some Assembly Members provided support to the candidates in terms of transportation, feeding, and other needs.

The Assembly Member of Opaintsir Electoral Area in Enyan Abaasa, Kwamena Wilson, who transported the candidates to and from their examination centers and provided them with hand sanitizers, also encouraged them to perform well.
