Ghanaian Felicity Asantewaa has set a new Guinness World Record(GWR ) for the most cars (60) washed in eight hours by an individual achieved in Accra, Ghana, on 9 March 2024.
According to the official GWR website, she broke the old record by 5 more cars.
The event is expected to commence as early as 7 am at the East Legon Go Go wash premises near the East Legon fitness club.
Announcing her decision to undertake the challenge earlier on her Instagram page, Felicity said her decision stems from her passionate commitment to empowering young women in Ghana, fostering gender equality and showcasing the limitless opportunities available to them.
“It’s not about taking over or competing with men, but rather showcasing that women are capable of the same opportunities for a living. For instance, we now have women driving commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks, engaging in various activities, demonstrating their independence,” she said.
She continued “I have observed that the car washing job has been dominated by males in Ghana. However, I believe females can equally do this work perfectly.”
According to Felicity, her admiration and love for cars compelled her to empower young women through her passion and what she loves best.
“I love cars and I also know a lot of car brands. So, when I thought of empowering young women and promoting Ghana, I chose what I love to do to have an impact in the young women’s world.”
Felicity Asantewaa’s achievement is coming barely a week after Chef Smith who attempted the longest cook-a-thon confessed to creating his own fake Guinness World Record certificate.
In an exclusive interview on GHOne TV with Serwaa Amihere, Chef Smith disclosed that he picked one of the certificates posted online by Guinness World Record, edited and put his details on it.
