The National Deputy Communications Director for the ruling New Patriotic Party, Mr. George Krobea Asante has been cleared from any wrongdoing and allegations of his involvement in galamsey activities in Akoase in the Birim North District, which led to the invocation of curses on him by Nana Boakye Boateng, Ankobea Hene of Noyem.

The Ankobea hene of Noyem traditional area Nana Boakye Boateng had invoked four rivers and the Akoase deities on the New Patriotic Party’s Deputy National Communications Director, George Krobea Asante for allegedly insulting and attacking the Chief of Akoase, Osabarima Gyasi Boateng over Galamsey activities.

Mr. Krobea Asante, a two termed former Assemblyman for Akoase Ahenbronum Electoral Area and former Presiding Member for the Birim North District Assembly, according to the Ankobea Hene, is recorded to have allegedly attacked the image of Chief of Akoase, Osaberima Gyasi Boateng Aduako II, on UTV Adekye Nsruma morning show hosted by Yaa Kurama.

Again, Ankobeahene of Noyem also alleged that Krobea sent his boys to attack the Chief of Akoase during a community engagement.

During a visit to the Antoa deity in the Ashanti Region on Friday, July 12, the river deity cleared Mr krobea and imposed sanctions on the Ankobea hene for invoking curses on Mr. Krobea without merits.

According to the deity, Nana Kwaku Boateng had no business in invoking curses on Krobea since all the allegations leveled against Krobea was found to be untrue and the action by the Ankobeahene was borne out of personal hatred and mere speculations.

It was also established at Antoa deity, that since Krobea did no wrong to warrant such invocation of curses, the deity further summoned the Akoase traditional authority to return any sacrificial demands collected from Mr. Krobea before it can reverse the invocation of curses.

Antoa added that, the culprit who invoked the curses should rather be made to cater for the expenses of revocation and not the victim in whom the curses were invoked on.

Facts of the matter

Nana Kwaku Boateng, Akoase Twafo Hene revealed to myrepubliconline.com in an interview that, Osabarima Gyasi Boateng in his plans made arrangements with the Minerals commission, through a committee he (Osabarima) established.

According to the Twafo Hene, there’s a gold – rock in Akoase which would require a – like – mind – capacity of Newmont to do the mining.

He said, the committee met a prospective investor, who had gone to Minerals Commission and has found a concession at Akoase.

He indicated that the committee met with the investor, upon his commitment, asked the traditional leaders what they want.

Twafo Hene added that, the traditional leaders opined for a social center in replacement of the share money that is to be given to the chiefs.

Consequently, Twafo Hene revealed that, a group in Accra had called the investor to desist from constructing the social center for the community in a fate that, it will bring shame to the members of the supposed group because they have the money to run the affairs of the town.

Twafo Hene told myrepubliconline.com that, Mr. Krobea, while doing all these back door dealings, was allegedly taking money from the investor.

The investor is said to have paid some Gh¢6,000 and additional Gh¢30,000 which he used for the roofing of his house.

Mr. Krobea was tailored to have mobilised his boys to attack the Chief’s palace.

He said, this development angered the Ankobea Hene of Akoase, who through five river bodies invoked curses on Mr. krobea Asante for insulting the Chief of Akoase and his elders for their involvement in mining activities in the area whereas he (Krobea) has also been taking monies from illegal miners.

Mr. Krobea after noticing his mistakes admitted to have taken monies from sites of illegal miners and subsequently, pleaded with the traditional leaders to reverse the curses in his favor.

The chiefs imposed Gh¢3,000 on each ram for the sacrifices for the five rivers used in the invocation of the curses.

Facts from Krobea

The Chief of Akoase formed a Nine Member Committee in Akoase to facilitate for a large scale mining company for Akoase and Krobea is the Secretary of the Committee.

For the past four years the Akoase Mining Committee has been engaging Minerals Commission and the Prospecting Company (African Exploration and Minerals Group – AEMG)

Now the concession has been duly registered as Akoase Goldfields and Prospecting Licence also issued to AEMG setting the tone for the further activities to take place. The committee has duly briefed Akoase Traditional Authority on this development.

The Mining Committee got notice of an alleged invasion of the land by a galamsey man who claimed Nananom together with Assembly and Unit Committee Members have permitted his operations in exchange of a durbar ground. All these happened without the involvement of the Mining Committee.

The Mining Committee met with the galamsey man in Akoase after engaging the Secretary for him to have consideration to enable him continue his work which the Secretary refused. Upon meeting the Mining Committee, the galamsey man admitted his mistakes and pleaded for mercy. He was given a 15 days ultimatum to park all his equipment from the concession. He agreed to comply until he was embodened by the Chiefs and the Assembly and Unit Committee members to continue his illegal mining so he can build for the community the durbar grounds

The man after requesting for a meeting with the Secretary in Akoase and also assisting to arrange the meeting in Accra for him, willingly gave GHC3000 to Krobea to cater for his fuel. This Krobea admitted and said it was given to him willingly without conditions by the man.

It is not true that the said galamsey man has given Krobea any amount of money aside the GHC3000 which was given to cater for the fuel.

Krobea referred that anyone who wants to have credible information on this mining can reach to the CEO of Minerals Commission, Lawyer Martin Ayisi.

Krobea urged all well meaning Ghanaians to debunk any allegations of his involvement in galamsey or any allegations of him sending his boys to attack Nana Akoasehene since same allegations the person making the allegations could not substantiate when they met at Antoa deity.

However, Osabarima Gyasi Aduako II is said to have denied ordering the Ankobea Hene of Noyem to Invoke those curses on Krobea who had earlier said Osabarima approved him to Invoke the curses when they met at Antoa.
