
National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament in the Central Region have threatened to stage a massive demonstration against the 1 percent lithium deal accepted by the government for the Mfantseman Constituency.
The MPs expressed their disappointment in the government, notably the MP for the Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Ophilia Mensa Heyford, said accepting 1 percent deal for the Mfantseman Constituency is an insult.
Atlantic Lithium, an exploration and development company, has promised to channel one percent of its mining revenue to develop the catchment communities in Mfantseman.
They said if the NDC wins power in the upcoming December 7 general election, it will halt all the activities of the lithium company in the Mfantseman Constituency and renegotiate the deal again for the benefit of the constituents.
Addressing a mammoth crowd and Chiefs in the Mfantseman Constituency, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Dr. Prince Arhin, hinted that as long as he remains the Parliamentary Candidate after winning the seat, he will make sure that the head office of the Lithium Company will be brought to the Mfantseman Constituency and also that 90 percent of the youth in the area are employed, including drivers; else he will ensure the company vacates the area.
Meanwhile, some minority MPs and parliamentary candidates in the Central Region, also describing the NPP government as a failed one as it has mismanaged the economy and brought hardship on Ghanaians.
They urged Ghanaians to vote massively against the NPP government in the in the coming December general elections, as that will be the surest way to end the economic hardship.
Lastly, the Paramount Chief of Abeadze Traditional Area, who was a former Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi, appealed to Ghanaians to vote wisely in the upcoming elections as responsible citizens.
