The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, has disclosed Ghana’s readiness to host the 6th edition of the African Union (AU) Mid-Year Coordination Meeting scheduled for July 18-21, 2024 in Accra.

This meeting, themed “Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century,” will include the African Union, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Regional Mechanisms, and AU Member States.

Addressing the media at the Ministry of Information on the update of the meeting, Ampratwum Sarpong said the Mid-Year Coordination Meeting is intended to assess the status of continental integration and coordinate efforts to accelerate the integration process.

He added that the meeting will look at areas of cooperation and establish mechanisms for regional, continental, and global cooperation in each sector or subsector.

Moreso, the meeting will guide the Union and the RECs in matters pertaining to priority programmes, the resources needed for implementation of these programmes and the impact of such programmes in improving the lives of African people.

He disclosed that consequently, the government of the Republic of Ghana, under the auspices of the President of the Republic, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo, is scheduled to host the 45th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the Republic, which will take place from July 18-19, 2024 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
