An unidentified man has been beaten to death after allegedly stealing a motorbike at Agona Asafo, located in the Agona East District of the Central Region.

According to information gathered by Kasapa News’ Yaw Boagyan, the deceased hired an okada rider in Agona Swedru town to take him to Agona Asafo to meet someone. Upon reaching a quiet area in Agona Asafo, the deceased attacked the okada rider with a knife, put pepper in the rider’s eyes, and fled with the motorbike.

Sources reported that the okada rider managed to reach Asafo town and informed his fellow riders about the incident, prompting them to chase the suspect.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 26, 2024, at around 4:00 PM. Fortunately, they caught the suspect, beat him, and set him ablaze, leading to his death.

The Assemblyman for Agona Asafo, Ishmael Odoom, cautioned those involved in robbery in the area to desist from such activities to avoid similar consequences.

The body has been transported to the Agona Swedru hospital morgue for preservation, while the police continue their investigations. No arrests have been made yet.
