The Minister for Public Enterprises, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe has announced that 16 State Enterprises are currently undergoing a thorough evaluation as part of the government’s Service Delivery Programme.

Addressing the media at the Minister’s Press Briefing at the Ministry of Information on Thursday, August 15, 2024, Mr Joseph Cudjoe indicated that the enterprises highlighted include the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), Ghana Cocoa Board, Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Metro Mass Transit Limited, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Ghana National Gas Company Limited, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Bui Power Authority, National Home Ownership Fund, Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Ghana Railway Company, Cocoa Processing Company, PBC Limited, and Intercity STC

According to the sector minister, the outcomes of these evaluations will be crucial in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of these enterprises.

He emphasized that the recommendations from the assessment will be implemented to strengthen the operations of these entities, thereby boosting their overall contribution to the national economy.

He again outlined the Ministry of Public Enterprises’ strategy, which focuses on continuous improvement of individual entities. This, he noted, is essential for optimizing the performance of the entire State Enterprises portfolio, ultimately contributing to the nation’s economic recovery and growth.

On his part , the Director-General of State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA ) Mr John Boadu highlighted the pivotal role SIGA is playing in making state enterprises contribute to the GDP of the country.

He therefore charged Specified Entities who have not yet signed the performance contract with the SIGA to immediately do so to ensure transparency and accountability.
