The 8th edition of the CEO/Executive Ping-Pong Tournament took place over the weekend at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra. The event was organized through a collaboration between Safety Communication Consult and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Foundation, Germany, with support from various partners including their main sponsors Volta River Authority (VRA) and Tang Palace Hotel.
The tournament aimed at promoting fitness, networking, and relaxation among top executives, featured dignitaries, and key partners. Notable attendees included the Vice President of the Psychiatric Association of Ghana, Dr. Yennusom Maalug, who also actively participated in the games.
Laud Aristotle Aidoo, a French teacher and an Executive, dominated the competition by defeating his opponent, Dr. Theodore Boafo a medical practitioner in a 3-1 victory, claiming the coveted trophy and a medal. In an interview with Kasapa Sports, Laud Aidoo shared his excitement about the initiative, saying, “It’s a great idea to have executives come together for such tournaments. It provides a platform to exercise, network, and also have fun. I truly enjoyed the experience.”
Eric Apedo, Chief Operations Officer of Safety Communication Consult, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and praised the participation of new faces. “We are delighted to have had a new champion this year and to see such a great turnout. It was a beautiful and successful event, thanks to God’s grace and the enthusiasm of all participants,” Apedo remarked.
He also encourages potential partners and sponsors to join and support this great initiative as mental health is a serious matter that needs support for sustainable development in corporate Ghana.
Dr. Yennusom Maalug, who secured third place in the tournament, commended the event’s organization and emphasized the mental health benefits of table tennis. “It was a well-organized competition, mentally stimulating, and a lot of fun. Events like these highlight the positive effects of sports on mental health, and I believe this should be encouraged.”
With growing participation and support, the CEO/Executive Ping-Pong Tournament continues to serve as a platform for executives to stay fit, network, and engage in friendly competition. The success of this year’s edition underscores the value of such initiatives in promoting physical and mental well-being among professionals.
