President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lauded the establishment of MIKO Pharmaceuticals’ state-of-the-art manufacturing plant, describing it as a game-changer for Ghana’s pharmaceutical sector.

Speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony to officially launch the plant in the Akosombo-Akwamu Traditional Area, the President noted that the facility will help position Ghana as a hub for pharmaceutical innovation in Africa.

“Once operational, MIKO Pharmaceuticals will significantly increase the availability of affordable and high-quality medication, addressing a wider range of critical health issues,” he stated.

He said, “With the construction of this facility, Ghana is taking a crucial step towards reducing our dependence on imported drugs and ensuring that Ghana, by extension Africa, is capable of meeting the health needs of our people through domestically manufactured pharmaceuticals.”

President Akufo-Addo further emphasized the project’s economic impact, noting that the plant’s construction will create 1,000 direct jobs, many of which will benefit local residents.
