Video: Alan never loved NPP – Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as ‘Chairman Wontumi,’ has accused Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, leader and founder of the Movement for Change Alliance, of lacking loyalty to the NPP.

According to Wontumi, Mr. Kyerematen, who recently resigned from the party, has never genuinely supported the NPP.

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi, Chairman Wontumi alleged that Kyerematen worked as an agent for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, undermining the NPP’s electoral fortunes to benefit the opposition.

“One of our members, Alan Kyerematen, who has broken away from us, has clearly shown through his actions that he never truly loved the NPP,” Wontumi declared. “Alan Kyerematen has disowned the NPP and former President John Agyekum Kufuor, much like Judas betrayed Jesus during the crucifixion,” he added with a visibly displeased tone.

Wontumi Accuses Alan of Betrayal

Chairman Wontumi recounted how former President John Agyekum Kufuor gave Kyerematen significant political opportunities, appointing him as Ghana’s ambassador and later as Minister of Trade and Industry.

“This same Alan Kyerematen was also appointed as Minister of Trade and Industry under President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration. Alan, after all these opportunities, you’re still complaining. What about the rest of us who haven’t even held government positions? How could you allow former President Mahama to influence you into verbally attacking Kufuor? This is a big shame,” Wontumi stated.

Allegations of NDC Collusion

Chairman Wontumi went further to suggest that Kyerematen’s decision to form the Movement for Change Alliance was part of a plan orchestrated by the NDC to weaken the NPP in its stronghold of Ashanti Region.

“It is regrettable that someone like Kufuor helped Alan Kyerematen to serve Ghana, only for him to later insult Kufuor. This clearly shows Mahama gave you money to create the Movement for Change Alliance to reduce NPP votes in Ashanti. But Ashanti has spoken,” Wontumi concluded.
