The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned the incidents of vandalism and looting that occurred during the 2024 general elections.

Several electoral offenses were reported across various constituencies, leading to casualties and injuries.

In an update released by the Ghana Police Service on Monday, December 9, it was revealed that 89 individuals have been arrested in connection with these offenses.
Of the total arrests, 40 suspects are directly linked to acts of vandalism, looting, and property destruction, while the remaining suspects face charges related to other electoral offenses.

Addressing the press, the National Communications Officer of the NDC condemned the violence, acknowledging that some of the incidents involved overly jubilant NDC supporters celebrating the party’s resounding victory in the presidential and parliamentary elections.

He stated, “The NDC hereby condemns on no uncertain terms, these acts by lawlessness, whether carried out by NDC supporters or other party supporters. While we appreciate the legitimate frustration of the Ghanaian people against the by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia NPP regime, we wish to call on Ghanaians, especially the rank and file of the NDC to exercise restraints and go about their jubilation with a sense of responsibility.”

The NDC’s statement reflects a commitment to upholding peace and order, urging all supporters to refrain from violent actions and ensure their celebrations remain within the bounds of the law.
