President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Election.
This gesture of goodwill came after the Electoral Commission’s declaration of results by its Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, on Monday evening, December 9, 2024.
In a social media post [X], Akufo-Addo revealed that he called Mahama to congratulate him on his victory, praising the Electoral Commission and the Ghanaian people for a successful election that showcases the strength of Ghana’s democracy.
He expressed his commitment to ensuring a seamless transfer of power on January 7, 2025, and looks forward to working with Mahama and his team to achieve this goal.
Akufo-Addo also commended the peaceful nature of the elections, attributing this achievement to the collective efforts and participation of all stakeholders.
He invited Mahama for a meeting on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Jubilee House to initiate the transition process.
It stated, “Earlier this evening, I called President-elect @JDMahama to congratulate him on his decisive victory in the just-ended presidential election. I also congratulated the @ECGhanaOfficial and the Ghanaian people for a successful election that reflects the enduring strength of Ghana’s democracy. In the spirit of collaboration, I invited the President-elect for a meeting on Wednesday at Jubilee House to initiate the transition process.”
The President concluded his statement by praying for Ghana’s continued prosperity and strength, saying, “May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong.”
