President-elect John Mahama has appointed ten senior members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by close confidant, Julius Debrah to form the incoming administration’s side of the transition team.

In a statement signed by the NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, he noted that the individuals were to coordinate with incumbent government officials to ensure a seamless handover.

“H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President-elect of the Republic of Ghana, has in accordance with the
provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (ACT 845), appointed the following personalities as members of the 2024 Transition Team.

“The team will work closely with representatives of the out-going government with a view to ensuring
a smooth transfer of political power to the incoming administration,” the statement said.

The side includes Mr. Mahama’s former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, NDC Chair, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party’s General Secretary, Fiifi Kwetey, Dr. Callistus Mahama who would serve as Secretary to the Transition Team and Dr. Valerie Sawyerr.

Others are Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, NDC caucus leader in parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Mahama Ayariga MP, Goosie Tanoh and Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.

The release noted that former Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho will serve as a member of the Transitional Advisory Council.

Following the official declaration by the Electoral Commission, President Akufo-Addo called Mr. Mahama to congratulate him as the winner of the 2024 presidential election and assured him of his commitment to a seamless transition.

The team is expected to formally meet the government side when the president welcomes the president-elect to the Jubilee House tomorrow.
