The Leaders of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana(CETAG) has cautioned the government to either settle their salaries or look for other means to teach students when school resumes in January 2025
Speaking on Kasapa news, Fidelis Kamai, the General Secretary of CETAG said that their concerns which passes through the National labor authority has been delivered to the government yet the government seems not to have interest in anything concerning them
He explained that they worked all of 2022 without any rest which the labor commission condemned and asked the government to pay their monthly salaries and out of the 46 colleges in the country, only 4 have been paid refusing to settle the remaining 42
“This encouraged our strike last year and July this year hoping it will push the government to take action yet we have not seen anything
Our little message to the government is to find ways to teach students when school resumes in January 2025” he said
Fidelis Kamai continued that the board sat with the government just last week and they promised to settle this week and has postponed it to the 20th of this month
“My people are worried and frustrated.
We are not happy going on strikes.
We therefore call on all authorities to help speak to the government to do the needful” he said
