Samuel Boateng, a political Analyst has urged the president elect;John Dramani Mahama to rethink his promises and decision of scrapping taxes

Speaking on Kasapa news, the political analyst said that Ghana will lose Close to 8.4 billion cedis should Mahama risk scrapping taxes as promised

According to him,the nation is ruled through hard work and loans and the hardwork of a government is determined by taxes received so if he is only going to work hard and not borrow then he has to rethink his decision

“Ghanaians are not worried about the taxes they pay but rather the outcome of the taxes and its benefits.

I don’t really blame him because campaigns are meant to captivate the people and influence them so though he said it in his manifesto, I will be glad if he can rethink his decision else he will take the burden of others as his since his government didn’t introduce all these taxes but the outgoing government “ he said

Samuel Boateng advised that the president elect rather reduce the percentages since we still have a lot to pay the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“ The outgoing government estimated the 2025 budget and e-levy alone would have had about 2.4 billion and from 3.1 to 3.9 billion on the side of COVID-19 and betting.

Hence if you scraping all these taxes means losing about 6.3 billion which will be a loss to the country.

I don’t even think the IMF will agree on this policy unless he has other factors where he is sure of receiving incomes that are higher than that received through the taxes” He said
