President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday named some persons to lead ten of the sixteen regions in a second round of ministerial appointments.

The presidency noted that the names of the individuals have been communicated to Parliament for vetting and approval.

It comes after three of the president’s key ministers designate were vetted by the Appointments Committee in a marathon sitting on Monday.

The nominees, all of whom are Members of Parliament included Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Finance Minister designate, Dr. Dominic Ayine, tapped to be Attorney General and Minister of Justice and John Jinapor who has been appointed Minister of Energy designate.

Following the hearing, Parliament is now preparing to interrogate the individuals selected to lead ten of the sixteen regions.

The nominees submitted to the legislature include Member of Parliament for Shai Osudoku, Linda Ocloo, who has been picked for Greater Accra Region, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ashanti Regional Secretary, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, selected for the Ashanti Region, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey for Eastern Region, James Gunu to lead the Volta Region and John Kwadwo Gyapong, nominated for Oti Regional Minister.

The others include Ali Adolf John, Northern Regional Minister designate; Ibrahim Tia for the North East Region; Akamugri Donstus Atanga for Upper East Region. Charity Gardiner and Salisu Be-Awuribe are Ahafo Regional Minister designate and Savannah Regional Minister designate respectively.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to whom the letter was written will read the nominations in the chamber and refer them to the Appointments Committee for vetting.
