The National Democratic Congress Spokesperson on Youth Development, Dr. Sammy Ayeh has assured the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that their “war of attrition” against Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) will fail.

ORAL was a campaign promise by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to recover assets and funds misappropriated by officials in the previous Akufo-Addo administration. Members of the minority caucus (NPP) claim that this anti-corruption committee has no legal hence describing it as “illegal”, “unprecedented” and “unconstitutional”.

Speaking on GH Today with Lantam Papanko, Dr. Ayeh accused the NPP of displaying anxiety and restlessness, suggesting that the party’s actions in the past eight years have left them vulnerable.

The ongoing Operation ORAL seeks to investigate and recover assets allegedly misappropriated during the NPP’s tenure in office. Dr. Ayeh referenced the constitutional mandate enshrined in Article 41f of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which compels citizens to protect public assets and uphold the integrity of the state.

“When the aged hears of dry bones, they become anxious, restless, and jittery. That is the state of the NPP. Having engaged in the worse form of corruption in the history of Ghana in the last 8 years. We will generously guard this attempt by President Mahama to retrieve anything stolen by the NPP. The set-up of Team ORAL draws inspiration from Article 41f on the 1992 Constitution, which spells out the duty of a citizen”.
